There were Transformations

There is the adage of Line upon Line.
I’m quite sure I wouldn’t have comprehended some of the material I picked up later on, without the exposure to the earlier material.
So this was the path of transformation Sam & I went on…

  • 2006 Dec – Sammy arrives, we get the dog walking paraphernalia, and venture out into the neighborhood.
  • 2007 Jan – Met quite a few local dog owners. Good with dog names, still working on dog owner names.
  • 2007 Mar – Listened to numerous radio episodes from CBC’s Ideas and their Quirks & Quarks programs
  • 2007 Jun – Beginning of many scout hikes and camps with Sam and the boys.
  • 2008 Sep – Started into podcasts and downloaded the NPR’s TED Radio Hour onto my phone.
  • 2010 Jan – Started listening to audio files from Cleon Skousen, mostly on the US Constitution and the founding fathers.
  • 2012 Dec – Middle son shares his research on improving memory. I the listened to You can have an
  • Amazing Memory by Dominic O’Brien 8 times world memory champion. This really helps for my work,
  • not having to look up stuff make you much more efficient.
  • 2013 Oct – Eldest son provided Arbinger pdf titled Leadership & Self Deception. Figured out how to get phone to read pdf files to me. I now see my wife is in the box. Starting to realize the levels of my self deception.
  • 2014 May – Hosted a panel discussion for our Calgary IIBA group on the Leadership & Self Deception material.
  • 2014 Dec – My job suggests I take some COMM courses. Started taking Pathways and listening to downloaded course material. Eventually get to the Family Relations and figure out the significance that relationships should have. One of the few things you can take with you when you die. Hoping they will be good ones by then.
  • 2016 Apr – Got started with BYUI COMM courses, and download all the reading material to my phone. Incorporated dog walks, and had to add train commutes to cover all the material.
  • 2017 May – My youngest son introduces me to Jordan B. Peterson, psychology professor that provided
  • podcast lectures. Started with a series called The Psychological Significance of the Biblical Stories: Genesis. There are like 15 2-3 hour podcasts each having around 1/2 hours of Q&A by students, and they only covered Genesis. Who knew there was so much in there to unpack?
  • 2018 Apr – Started listening to Peterson’s new audio book 12 Rules for Life: An antidote to Chaos and really got worked over with Chapter 8 Tell the Truth – or least, don’t lie. I was choosing my words to apply my bias. Hard to reverse that one.
  • 2019 May – Peterson interviews Shane Parrish and I get introduced to The Knowledge Project. This guy really gets heavy into Conversations, and Relationships with his Guests, all who are top in their fields.
  • 2019 Aug – Started the COMM 497 and build this site. I can now start to collect the wisdom found from the podcasts I’ve covered so far. Its important to have this stuff organized, so I can find it when I need it. It will be a work in progress…
